Favorite Korean spot in Sacramento. Galbijjim is always a hit and quality is very consistent - so consistent I get it every time I come here!!!

Originally, I had made a phone reservation for 10 people on Saturday, June 15 for a post-graduation dinner (I now have a degree) about a week before at 6:45pm. An elderly Asian woman took my reservation (which is generally a good sign) and said it was fine. Then a couple days before, I had to change it to 11 people and they also said it was fine. Then the day off, complications happened and suddenly my party of 11 became a party of 7 and wanted to go to dinner an hour earlier than planned. We communicated all of this with the restaurant and they were incredibly accommodating for all these changes (which I felt so bad about). I entered with my graduation gown and stole on and the server constantly was congratulating me and saying I should be very proud of myself. All of them were also worried about my gown touching the ground and made sure I was well taken care of. Definitely very homey and genuinely like motherly affection. Now for the food, *To note: I am from the Bay Area and actively go to Korean restaurants so I have a certain taste that I am always looking for.* We ordered the TongSamGyub Salad (sliced pork belly), yachae pojeon (vegetable pancake), and Dduk gook (rice cake soup). I wish they had kimchi pancake as those are usually my favorite in a Korean spot, but the vegetable pancake was great, flavorful, and crispy. I was not entirely a fan of the dduk gook, as I prefer it to be spicer and a stronger gochujang flavor. My table also ordered bibimbap, Dolsot Bibimbap (in a stone pot), haemul kalguksoo (Hand cut noodles soup with seafood), Daeji Bulgogi (Spicy marinated sliced pork bulgogi), and Buckwheat cold noodles. The haemul kalguksoo was really good and had a rich, flavorful broth. The buckwheat noodles came with mustard and vinegar, in which my friend proceeded to add excessive amounts of mustard. It, then, only tasted like mustard, which was user error. I would also suggest getting the regular bibimbap over the stone pot as it did not really crispy up the rice as much as I thought, but overall the flavor was great. The sauce they provided was gochujang in a bottle (i think) and helped add more flavor and spice to the dish. They also provided a lot of banchan, with a lot more options than most Korean places I do to. It was not my most favorite banchan I've had but it was still good and the number of options made up for the lack of flavor in the banchan. Overall, come for the friendliness of the staff and the numerous great food options to share between friends.

Jang Su is like very cozy Korean restaurant. It's like visiting a Korean aunty for a delicious home cooked meal. We enjoyed their king mandoo, potato pancake, bulgogi, pork belly salad and spicy galbi jjim. All delicious and flavorful. Our favorite was the king mandoo. Service was little slow because they were so busy. We can see why it was so popular. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. Enjoy! Highly recommend!

Stumbled into this place after a long day of shredding the mountains in the cold and omg did it deliver! It was the perfect way to wrap up my day with what feels like a home cooked meal. The service warmed my heart they're so attentive! Highlights: Bossam: this is probably one of the best bossams I've ever had! The cuts of pork are fat and tender, the radish is sweet, the kimchi is perfectly fermented. Everything combines gives you an explosion of flavor- definitely a must have Kimchi Fried Rice: a classic dish filled with so much love cooked into it Side note: They have a life sized Jinro IU cutout!! I've seen Jennie's everywhere but never an IU one so !!! (。 ) Honorable mentions: Spicy beef soup, bulgogi, corn cheese (all were still VERY good) and they also give you super cute cut oranges at the end. It's so ajumma! Food ig: @twofattrats

We ordered the Salad with Pork Belly and the Yamnyeong Chicken. Both of the dishes are amazing!! We are really surprised with the pork belly and salad pairing as it made the food feel really balance and it did not feel fatty at all! The Yamnyeong Chicken was sweet and spicy! Hot and crispy on the outside. Juicy on the inside! The lady who served us speaks fluent Cantonese. She was nice throughout our time there and made sure we are feely hydrated!

I never tried this place. I called and started to ask questions in Korean. Another staff, who knows Korean, took over to answer all my questions and took the order. She was very helpful. I ordered a takeout lunch for 4 of us. I've found, at most Korean restaurants, we do not get as many different types of banchan as you would when dining in. So, I asked for a generous amount of banchan. When I picked up my order, I was told that she put extra banchan for this first-time order. As you can see from the photo, she gave me quite a bit of the 5 items. She told me that I can order a banchan box for $7 in the future. That seems worth it for 4, at a bit less than $2 per person. I had the Yukagejang ("spicy beef soup"). I asked for it extra spicy. It had a good (for me) amount of meat. The broth was flavorful, and I enjoyed it a lot. My husband had Dotolee Bibbimguksoo ("Acorn noodles tossed with vegetables & spicy sauce"). It's a cold dish of noodles and vegetables in a generous amount of Gochujang sauce. He said it was a bit sweeter than he'd like, but not as sweet as many Gochujang sauces he's had (he doesn't have much of a sweet tooth). The noodles were tasty, with a good texture. The other two people also liked their dishes; Bulgogi & Dolsot Bibimbap. All of us enjoyed our meals. Next time I hope we'll dine in, and get the full banchan treatment. Overall, it was a very good experience. Note: Their website (jangsukoreantofubbq.com) menu has current prices as of this review, but they no longer accept online orders.

I saw this restaurant featured in an IG post and invited my sister to try it with me. Both of us love Korean food and are always looking for new spots. I arrived around 5:30 pm on a Friday night and it was empty at the time. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and seated right away. When I was seated, I was promptly served water and hot tea. I was waiting for my sister to arrive so it gave me time to look at the menu. They had the usual items but they had also had quite a few items which I'd never heard of before. I had to Google a lot of it. When my sister arrived, she was so excited because she saw a cold noodle soup that she initially had in Koreatown in LA and has never seen it on any menus in Sacramento. Unfortunately, it was a seasonal item that's served during warmer weather. The lady invited us to come back to try it in the spring. We ordered our usual jap chae and bulgogi. Our food came out very quickly which made us happy because we were hungry. The jap chae had generous portions of beef. I usually see just a small amount of beef if it was served with jap chae. But the jap chae Jang Su served had so much beef, it was more meat than noodles. Not that we were complaining. The bulgogi was on point. The banchan served with our meal wasn't as numerous as other restaurants. But what they lacked in quantity, they made up for in quality. There was one item which I've never had but absolutely loved. It was an apple and cucumber dish in a slightly sweet white sauce. It was perfect with the salty bulgogi. My sister and I both got items to go. I got the bibimbap. My sister got the kimchee fried rice and fried chicken. All our dishes were excellent. For as good as the food was, what really stood out for us was the service. The staff were all so cordial and kind. The food came out quickly. Our water glasses and tea cups were never empty. I can't wait to come back and try more items, including the cold noodle soup my sister has been telling me about.

Wanted AYCE, the hubby said not tonight, kept down Bradshaw and saw this place, wanted to try something new so why not? Absolutely worth it! We're so glad we did! Customer service was attentive, friendly and quick! The food we ordered along with the Banchan (little side extras) were all delicious too! We got: 1. Seafood pancake - DELICIOUS! Crispy on the outside and soft and full of flavor on the inside! 2. Seafood soup - A must!!! Especially on a cold evening. It's full of flavor and comes out piping hot! 3. Chicken wings: You do NOT want to sleep on this! One of the best chicken wings in town! Hands down!

With Oz Korean BBQ looming down the street, you can have a mom-and-pop style of a Korean feast here instead! The food that I tried (kimchi fried rice, yangnyeom chicken, and bulgogi) were all decently tasty. Nothing mind-blowing but did have comfort food vibes (probably some jarred/bottled marinades were used but still got the job done). Great variety of banchan options and the server was very willing to do refills on them. Friendly service in general and it was cute that at the end of the meal, I was given a hand-cut orange as a small complimentary dessert. Nice touch! Plentiful lot parking. Clean and spacious dining area. Overall recommend if you want to check out one of the traditional non-AYCE Korean restaurants in the area!
